| Student Council |
| Student Council is the
governing body of St. Angela Merici School. It has four officers:
president, vice president, treasurer, and
secretary. Each of these positions has its own responsibilities.
The focus of Student Council is to address any concerns of the
student body to the officers of the club. From there, the officers
will address these concerns to the administration or the Board Of Education
for review.
The Student Council is
open to any students who would like to get involved in the
decision-making
process of how the
school should be operated.

| Student Ambassadors |
| Each year a very select group of students
are invited to be Student Ambassadors for the school. The
students are taught how to be effective in their new role. The
Ambassador Program challenges the students to promote St.
Angela Merici and assist with welcoming visitors to our campus
during Open House events. Ambassadors also help with orientation
for transfer students and other hospitality events throughout
the year. |
|
| Bellermine Speech League |
| Students in the 5th-8th grades have the oppurtunity to compete
in the Bellermine Speech Competitions. The students are coached by a variety of teachers and spend additional time practicing at home.
All students who participate are recognized for their achievements by the principal during our morning prayers.

| Academic Fair |
| Each year during Catholic Schools Week, St.
Angela Merici students participate in an Academic Fair. This
gives students a chance to plan and complete a learning opportunity
in the subject of their choice. The actual fair is an occasion
to celebrate the gifts and talents of our students. |
|
| Science Fair |
| Students from every grade have the oppurtunity to participate in the
annual Science Fair. The purpose of this fair is
to demonstrate how students apply logical processes to solve
problems they find interesting and valuable. The emphasis is
placed on the use of the scientific method and communication
of results. |

learn a varied repertoire and study music history and theory.
Band students perform grade 1-3 literature and study band composers
and performers, such as John Philip Sousa. Choir students perform
unison, two and three part choral literature. They also study
musical theater and opera, including Oliver and Carmen.
Middle school students perform three times a year for our Grandparents
Day, Christmas, and Spring Program. Select students are invited
to perform for special events and honor groups. |
| Jazz Band |
| As of fall 2009, sixth through eighth grade students at St. Angela Merici are eligible to participate in the newly-formed jazz band. The ensemble meets twice a week during school and every Wednesday after school. Jazz students are exploring the different styles and genres of jazz through jazz history and culture. In addition to the 2 band concerts, Jazz band plays at various school functions such as "Mom's Day" and the Academic Fair. |

| Photography Club |
| What better way to document SAM school
life than through the lens of a camera? Open to 4th through
8th graders, students must have access to their own film or
digital camera. The student and parent/guardian MUST sign and
turn in ON TIME an agreement form stating that they understand
and will follow rules for appropriate and courteous camera
use. Students must also be in good academic standing.
Photographs taken by club members last year
were used at open house, in the school brochure, the parish directory, and the SAMS yearbook. Members
also help to choose the yearbook cover and title page design.
Photography club members meet several times
a semester during lunch, so no class time is missed. |
